PSYCHIC AWARENESS
Having awareness is being aware of your
environment, your interaction with that environment, and what is
happening in your personal universe in the present moment.
Awareness is a state of being.
Practicing awareness or being aware helps you create the life you desire and move through life with more ease and enjoyment.
There are many ways to increase and enjoy more of your own awareness.
Our psychic senses and abilities are part of our natural
spiritual inheritance. When we are in a state of awareness we are
using this inheritance.
Meditation
Meditation can be FUN. It does not
have to be about self-improvement. If you go into it with the
notion that you are a problem that needs to be fixed, you will meet
resistance in your mind and your body. How can meditation be an
enriching experience when it starts with an invalidation?
Invalidation does not nourish your spirit. Your spirit was born
free and seeks to create in this earth plane in the vibration of
spiritual freedom. Your spirit and body will resist and fight the
spiritual lie of judgment that you are not already everything you need
in this moment.
Meditation can be a space of release, replenishment and
healing. It can also be a space for seeking answers and
communication with spirit. And much more. What would
you like it to be?
Meditation Tip 1
Find a comfortable sitting chair. This
is crucial. If your butt and the rest of your body are going to
protest in discomfort during your whole meditation period how are you
supposed to meditate? Take this quest to find a good seat very
seriously or else realize that you are sabotaging yourself from the
get-go. Your body has to put up with so much nonsense from your
spirit as it is, why not give it a break and let it sit
comfortably? When you get out of the mindset of being in
competition with your body you will realize how much more pleasant and
effective it is to work WITH your body. All that stuff out there
about overcoming the body is just a belief. Isn’t the body
a miracle to be grateful for? Why not treat it right?
How can the body release energy when it is tensing in discomfort or in
effort to do what you believe is the “right thing”.
Proper care of the body will lead to a meditation space that is more
easily created on a regular basis. When you work in harmony with the
body you will have an easier time achieving your goals. When you
take care of your body, your body will come out of effort and
resistance to sitting and meditating.
About the Mandalas on this page
A few years ago, I went to the first Council
of Grandmothers gathering in New York. It is an international council
of 13 grandmothers from indigenous cultures and tribes around the
world. They meet twice a year in different countries and are organizing
to address the U.N. It was an incredible, deeply moving and inspiring
experience. During the week I was at the council conference I would
stay up late and paint a mandala for each Grandmother. For example,the
mandala on the right is for Clara, a powerful healer who lives deep in
the Amazon in Brazil. Each of these grandmothers made a lasting
impression on me. I am very grateful to have been there to witness the
forming of their mission and circle.

MEDITATION—WHY BOTHER?
Did you know that some people don’t
want you to change? Yet everyone you meet will tell you that they
wish the world would change, that our planet was different. The
only way the world changes is through each of us
changing. Change is constantly happening
around us and each tiny change effects another, but we like to
pretend that we are steady and constant. This makes us feel
safer. One focused examination of nature or biology reveals that
stagnation or a fixed state does not exist. The same goes for our
energy: it is in constant motion, especially when we are in a state of
wellness and growth.
Some of us are bound by our energetic agreements to the people
we are close to. “Don’t ever change, I like you just
the way you are.” It is not in anyone’s healthy
spiritual nature to remain unchanging. When you meditate you
begin to open the door to exploring your energetic and spiritual
nature. This Being that you are is in constant change because
that is what it is meant to do, grow and change. When we begin to
validate our growth and contemplate what changes would be more aligned
with our hearts desire, our path, we begin to contemplate changing our
relationships to the material world or earth plane. Because
everyone is psychic on some level, when you began to set yourself in
motion to the beat of your own authentic self, it will affect those
around you on some level. Maybe they will be encouraged to take
some time for themselves and turn within.
When we each begin to recognize our true nature, we create our
lives from a different place, the space of spiritual freedom. By taking
a bit of time to turn within and re-align with our spirit, we are
saying that this possibility exists for everyone. When we
practice awareness and validate our creations we can take
responsibility for them instead of blaming people and situations
outside ourselves. With all this in mind, your meditation mission
can be to become, in mini steps over your lifetime, more truly
yourself. How is this occurs is limitless and unique to you.
Our planet is undergoing some radical shifts in consciousness
and we are in the midst of much energetic change. We are also
becoming aware of the lies that we have unconsciously participated in
for centuries and how they have created the world we live in
today. Psychic awareness can give you new perceptions about what
you are creating in your own universe and what erroneous beliefs have
affected your creations. As your meditation practice grows you begin to
uncover your own participation in the things that are no longer true to
you or no longer serve you. Your relationships may change or they
may also remain the same, but you will have a greater understanding of
why you are in them. Your communication with the universe, and
planet Earth will evolve. In meditation you can renew your
communication with the energetic dimensions every day. When you
take the time each day to communicate with spirit, you more easily
adjust to the planetary shifts and your own personal shifts as they
happen.
When you ask yourself, “Why bother meditating?”
you are asking yourself if you have time to increase your spiritual
freedom and enjoy your life a little more. You are asking if you
are ready to get to know yourself better.
When you reframe your ideas about meditating into something
nice you do for yourself, suddenly it becomes much more
attractive. The next step is to explore different ways to
meditate until you find your own way and it becomes something you look
forward to rather than a “should”. There is no right
way to meditate; for you, there is only your way.
